Role Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for BetterInvesting is responsible for the mission driven and financial operations of the member-based organization. BetterInvesting is a 501c3 entity with a long, proud history of teaching people to become successful long-term investors. Through its online and in-person educational programs, stock analysis and portfolio management tools for investment clubs and individuals, and other resources, BetterInvesting and its for-profit subsidiary ICLUBcentral instruct individual investors and investment clubs on the fundamental investing principles and methodology of its Stock Selection Guide (SSG). Since its founding in 1951, BetterInvesting has helped over 5 million individuals become successful long-term investors. This role could be remote or local.The CEO also works closely with a group of nearly 500 dedicated and passionate volunteers affiliated with 43 local chapters located across the country and the BetterInvesting Volunteer Advisory (BIVA) Board. The volunteers take a hands-on approach to supporting members locally – providing stock analysis classes, visiting investment clubs, and holding local or regional investor education fairs. The BIVA Board supports the chapters. The BIVA Board is also responsible for producing the BetterInvesting National Convention (BINC), which is multi-day investment education conference held in-person every other year and virtually on the off years. The proceeds from BINC are used to fund the volunteer and chapter support activities of the BIVA Board. Staff provides support for BINC in the form of securing keynote and guest speakers, marketing and solicitation of corporate sponsors.
The BetterInvesting CEO is frequently asked to present at financial industry events; participate in radio and TV panel discussions about the market; speak with and present to volunteers, members and the public at BINC; present to members, volunteers and the public via webinar; and to speak with Chapters around the country.
The CEO reports directly to the BetterInvesting Board of Directors, is a member of the ICLUB Board of Directors, and an officer of both BetterInvesting and ICLUBcentral.
Compensation is at an executive level and commensurate with experience.

BetterInvesting is headquartered in Troy, MI. Most staff are local, but some are remote. The organization’s leadership team consists of four managers supporting the marketing, publications, IT, new product development, member education, chapter support, corporate relations, customer service, finance, and HR functions of BetterInvesting and ICLUB.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:
Credentials and Abilities

College graduate.

CFA or CFP is a plus, as is prior experience with BetterInvesting.

15 – 20 yrs. of work history demonstrating success across multiple disciplines, including contemporary sales/marketing experience and financial management/budget control, with increasing levels of management responsibility and leadership of complex and diverse organizations.

Public speaking experience.

Non-profit or volunteer experience.
