Description
The Rocky Mountain Chapter BetterInvesting Model Investment Club is a demonstration of an operating investment club. This model club is focused on small and mid-sized companies as defined by BetterInvesting. Often hard to find and evaluate, these potential gems have annual revenues of less than $10 Billion. A ten to fifteen-minute education session proceeds with the stock presentation.
Guests are welcome to attend.
Annual Review of Stock Portfolio
The January model investment club is a review of each of the stocks in the Club's portfolio using SSGPlus. Club members who are stock watchers provide their thoughts on the companies they are following.
Companies in the portfolio are: CPRX, DAR, EW, GRBK, IXMI, MNST, PLUS, QLYS, ROL, USLM, and WAL.Prior to the review of the individual stocks in our portfolio, Joan Loken will present our education topic.
Education Session: Why Are P/Es So High?
Have you noticed that P/Es seem higher than the used be? When Joan started investing 40 years ago, the P/E average was in the 15 to 16 range. Recently, Joan has noticed a change. The education session looks at the history of past P/Es and the current P/Es, exploring what changed and what is happening in the market, focusing on the FANG stocks and the Magnificent Seven stocks. In February, the education session will dig deeper into NVDA doing a Acid Test if the company is worthy of further study. In March, the stock study will be on NVDA.
Joan Loken has been a Director of the BI Rocky Mountain Chapter since 2009 and has served as President and Education Chair. For six years, she was a member of the national BI Advisory Board and chaired the Chapter Support Team. Ann Cuneaz, Senior Manager of Education Programs, asked Joan to participate in the Ticker Talk and Stock UP GTW backroom. Answering questions in the backroom gave Joan the opportunity to continue expanding her investing knowledge.
