Special Presenter: Kevin Gillogly

Kevin Gillogly, Director with the DC Regional Chapter and host of the monthly online presentation "Digging into the BI Magazine",  presents  three topics that should be of interest to all investors, especially to those that use the BI SSG in their company evaluations..  The presentations are:

Visualizing Cyclicals on the SSG
Six Signs Your Stock is Too Good to be True
Updating Your SSG:  Dos & Don'ts

 Visualizing Cyclicals on the SSG

  • Approximately 3/4s of all stocks are cyclicals. You just may not know it.
  • The US experienced its longest bull market ever from late 2008 to early 2020.
  • There is a subtlety to cyclicals.
  • Learn how to use the Visual Analysis to understand cyclicals
  • A review of Ellis Traub’s book “Take Stock” we can adjust the visual analysis to get better understanding of how the company operates.
  • You need to make the visual analysis relevant.
  • Measuring the strength of the growth
  • Eliminate outliers

Six Signs Your Stock is Too Good to be True

  • When your potential price appreciation moves from100% to be closer to 200% (or more) you might have been too optimistic.
  • Let’s dissect why this might be too good to be true.
  • Is your stock selling at a historically low value (P/E)?
  • Just like diagramming a sentence,  diagram the results of your judgment. Let's see if the conclusion is reasonable.

Updating Your SSG:  Dos & Don'ts

  • There is more to a stock update than updating the price.
  • There is more to a stock update than reading the latest issue of Value Line.
  • Learn how to complete a stock update in a clear and understandable fashion.
  • Many times a stock update may look like a certain BUY when you should consider a SELL or HOLD.
  • Other times a stock update may look like a certain SELL when you should consider it a BUY or HOLD.
  • This class will walk you through the steps of a stock update.
