Description
The S&P 500 celebrated its 2nd birthday on October 12. Students of stock market history know full well that the third year of bull markets have traditionally tested investors’ tolerance and discipline. Indeed, since 1949, of the 11 bull markets that celebrated their 2nd birthday, three died an early death, two more recorded 12-month declines, while another three posted below-average annual gains. With this in mind, what kind of return and volatility lie ahead for investors in 2025? Sam Stovall, Chief Investment Strategist at CFRA Research, will discuss how current conditions may confirm or alter the traditional post-election-year enthusiasm, as well as share CFRA’s sector, sub-industry, and stock selections.
What you will learn:
STOCK RETURNS AND THE FOUR-PRESIDENTIAL CYCLE: See how the S&P 500 typically performs during all 16 quarters of the presidential cycle, with an emphasis on the first year.
INDICATORS THAT POINT TO A VOLATILE 2025: Third year bull markets and first years of the four-year presidential cycle have traditionally been quite volatile. Will 2025 be any different?
INVESTMENT STRATEGIES: Investors will learn how to harvest the market-beating benefits offered by sector correlation, momentum, and seasonality.
