Why don't the yearly high and low stock prices match Value Line or Yahoo! Finance?

The high and low stock price data used in the Online Stock Tools are calculated based on the company's fiscal year, not the calendar year.

What this means to you is that when you see historical high and low P/E ratios in section 3 of the SSG, the price data used to calculate those P/E values is for the exact same time period during which those earnings were earned.

Value Line yearly high and low prices are based upon the calendar year, regardless of when the company's fiscal year ends.

If you are comparing the high and low stock price data to Yahoo! Finance or another website, be sure to check the company's fiscal year end date and adjust the date range accordingly.

For example, when checking 2012 high and low prices for D.R. Horton (ticker=DHI), whose fiscal year closes September 30th, you will need to check from October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012.
