What is the source of the analyst estimate data?

The analyst estimate data for sales and earnings is provided in the form of consensus estimates and is provided by Morningstar. The number of analysts providing estimates for a particular ticker varies according to the size and popularity of the company. For example, larger company estimates may be an aggregate of estimates from up to 10 analysts whereas a smaller company may be only covered by 1 or 2 analysts.

Long-term sales or earnings estimates are provided for approximately 3900 companies out of the nearly 8200 companies in the database. Not all companies will have both sales and earnings estimates.

Short-term sales or earnings estimates are provided for approximately 4200 companies out of the nearly 8200 companies in the database.
