What is a public portfolio in the Online Stock Tools?
A Public Portfolio is a feature in BetterInvesting’s Online Stock Tools that allows you to share your stock portfolio with others outside the BetterInvesting community using a unique, private URL. This is especially useful for investment clubs or members who want to showcase their portfolio to others—like prospective members, friends, or other investors.
Key Features:
- One-Time Setup: Enable the feature once via the checkbox on the Edit Portfolio dialog box and your shared portfolio will always reflect the most current data from your account.
- Private Sharing: The unique link is only visible to the people you share it with—BetterInvesting does not publish or promote these links.
- Read-Only Access: Viewers can see summary and detailed portfolio reports but cannot edit or access your studies.
How to Set Up a Public Portfolio:
- From your Member Home Page, go to My Studies or , if already using the Online Tools, click the folder icon in the left navigation menu.
- At the top section labeled Portfolios, find the portfolio you want to share.
- Click the pencil icon to edit that portfolio.
- In the Edit Portfolio dialog box, check the box labeled “Public Portfolio.”
- A unique URL will appear—copy this link to share via email, text, or however you choose.
- Click "Save" to apply the changes before sharing.
What Will Others See?
- If you're a Plus user, viewers will see three reports (Portfolio Summary, PERT and Diversification).
- If you're a Core user, viewers will see just the Portfolio Summary report.
- They won’t have access to any studies or editing functions.
This is a simple and secure way to share your investment approach with others while maintaining full control over your portfolio.
