Description

This will be our first “hybrid” annual meeting since a year before the Covid-19 pandemic.  By “hybrid”, we mean some of our chapter’s local BI members would like to attend the meeting “in person”.  This group can travel to the High Point Public Library  (901 N Main Street, High Point, NC).  We are meeting in the library's relatively small auditorium (15 tables with 30 chairs - no registration is required).   Most other BI members and/or interested parties scattered across North Carolina would probably prefer to watch and listen to our annual meeting from the comfort of their homes by using their computers to connect to our meeting using the “GoTo Meeting” internet based application.

12:35 to 1:35 Third Educational Session

Here are some additional details about Doug Gerlach’s educational sessions:

Five Levels of Valuation:  Know When to Avoid, Buy, Hold, Wait, and Sell.  Understanding the five levels of valuation to make informed decisions on buying, holding, or selling stocks based on BetterInvesting™ tools.

Stock Selection Guide Rules of Thumb:  The SSG is an “aid to judgment, not a replacement for it.”  Selecting appropriate values for the judgment items on the SSG are the key to identifying long-term candidates for a portfolio.  Learn Doug’s rules for determining appropriate future growth rates, interpreting and selecting Price/Earnings Ratios, and selecting potential future low prices.  Also get to know how to use the concept of “margin of safety” in setting conservative values, and when exceptions to the rules may be appropriate.

Guidelines for Investment Club Portfolio Construction:  Over the years, Doug Gerlach has seen plenty of successful – and not so successful – investment clubs and their portfolios.  So what’s the secret to an investment club’s success?  One of the key factors is understanding that club portfolios differ from individual portfolios in many ways, driven by accounting and tax issues, educational focus, timeframe, ability to manage, and other issues.  Learn Doug’s guidelines for how savvy investment clubs can build portfolios that stand the tests of the market and economy over time.
