The Kansas City Area Chapter provides support to BetterInvesting clubs in a variety of ways.  Either through our customized learning or standard support services like Club Visits, Club Contact FAQ, or Club Anniversary Certificate Program, we can help.

Custom Investing Classes

Customized Stock Selection Guide I and II programs are back by popular demand to Investment clubs upon request. Your club must secure the location and work out a mutually agreed upon date and time for the class with a KC BetterInvesting Chapter director, who will teach the front and back of the SSG. The cost is $10-$20 a person with a minimum of $200. The session will take about 5-6 hours. Handouts will be provided. Call or send an email to one of the Chapter Contacts.

If you have a different class that you would like to have one of the directors present, send a request to one of the KC Chapter contacts. Work out a topic and time. It may take some time to put a class together but we will attempt to satisfy your needs.

We suggest that you have some basic knowledge about investing and the SSG. Preferably, you will have taken the Basic Investing Class.

Investment Club Visits

Would you like a guest speaker at an upcoming meeting?  Could your club benefit from a question-and-answer session with someone who's "been there"? Could your club use some help with any of these topics?

  • Applying judgment to the Stock Selection Guide (SSG)
  • Voting on portfolio decisions without upsetting other members
  • A portfolio review – Is your portfolio diversified? How might you improve your club’s buy and sell decisions
  • Club accounting and tax issues
  • Partner withdrawals – Why transferring appreciated stock instead of cash is a win-win for everyone.
  • Finding small companies
  • Making use of BetterInvesting membership benefits
  • Assistance with SSG tools (Toolkit or BetterInvesting CoreSSG and SSGPlus)

Club visits from the experienced investors on our Board of Directors are one of the most amazing services the Kansas City Area Chapter offers to its clubs. These are the terrific people who teach our classes, coordinate our annual Investors Education Conference, put together the Kansas City Area Chapter Newsletter -- and make club visits free of charge! Every dues-paying club is eligible for one FREE club visit per calendar year with the volunteer presentation being 30 minutes to 1 hour.

The chapter has a club visit coordinator who will find the right person at the right time for the right subject matter. That volunteer will then contact you for the date, time and directions to your meeting, and particulars about the topics you wish to discuss.

  • Let us know how to contact you for further information. 

Our directors really enjoy making these club visits. And you will enjoy having them visit your club.  Give it a try!

For a club located greater than 50 miles from the volunteer, we may ask for mileage reimbursement.  Alternatively, perhaps we can set up a club visit by phone or an online meeting.

Please be sure that your club contact realizes that they will be the only one in the club receiving mailings and materials from the Chapter and that they should bring or forward copies of those items to the other members of the club.

Investment Club Anniversary Certificate Program

The Kansas City Area Chapter recognizes clubs celebrating their incremental five year anniversaries. We believe reaching such a milestone is an achievement deserving recognition and congratulations from BetterInvesting. Home Office will be providing the Kansas City Area Chapter a certificate for each investment club reaching this milestone. 
    
A chapter representative will reach out to the club contact of each investment club celebrating this special anniversary to make arrangements for the certificate presentation. Please be sure to let us know of any change in contact information with regard to your club contact by sending an email to contact@kansascity.betterinvesting.net
