MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., August 31, 2006 — While 87 percent of Americans hold investments, only six percent consider themselves knowledgeable about investing.* BetterInvesting's FREE "Investors Expo®" is a unique way for investors to speak with financial experts and learn first-hand how to make their investments work for them.
Columbus-area residents are invited to attend, free of charge, the "Investors Expo," and fundamental investing seminars featured at the BetterInvesting National Convention. The Investors Expo and fundamental investing seminars are open to the public on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 11:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. The Investors Expo features more than 50 publicly traded companies whose representatives will be on hand to answer questions about their companies' business opportunities and plans, and investment programs geared to individual investors.
"We are pleased that BetterInvesting is able to provide Columbus residents the opportunity to speak with financial experts and member volunteers," said Richard Holthaus, president and CEO of BetterInvesting. "This expo provides new investors the opportunity to learn in a one-on-one setting about the benefits associated with investing."
To kick off the Investors Expo, Gary Ball, National Investors Association director and member volunteer of BetterInvesting, will teach investors how to "Turn $100 Into $1,000" in an informative seminar, also open to the public, at 11:15 a.m.
During this year's Expo, guest speakers will make presentations during the open-to-the public session: Lori Shock, special counsel to the director, Office of Investor Education and Assistance, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; Ellis Traub, founder of Inve$tWare Corporation, and the Beardstown Ladies, the acclaimed investment club made up of Midwestern seniors who proved that even novice investors can take control of their financial futures.
The Expo also features an attendee favorite, the "Treasure Hunt," where participants gather information about the Expo's exhibiting companies to win prizes. Past prizes have included shares of stock, gift certificates, books and clothing with company logos.
